THE CLOUD COUCH

We have had our couch now for 3 years so I can tell you if we love it and if its worth it. But before I dive into that, I want to tell you a little bit of a back story.

S o almost 10 years ago…TEN…my husband and I were furniture shopping for our new home. We walked into Z Gallery looking for a dining set and instantaneously, he fell in love with a couch. He had not even sat on it and he says to me ” I want it!” This is not like him at all. We had been couch shopping 2 times before and it was not that easy. It took us weeks to find “the one” so naturally my response was “whattttt?” He ran over to the couch, laid on it…not sat, laid….and was smitten by this couch!! Of course, I sat right after him and I could see his instant obsession. This was the most comfortable couch I have ever sat on. Someone came over to help…he just says “I’d like this couch please.” When they reach over for the price list and start adding to the price ( because yes..everything is separate ) we look at each other, super sad, because we knew this was not the time for us to afford the couch.

It was ok….this just motivated him to work that much harder. We did get our dining set in Z Gallery but not the couch.

Fast forward 7 years later and we were ready for The Cloud. During these 7 years we did our research. Apparently there were multiple versions of this couch. So ours is from Restoration Hardware. It’s the same concept, you can build it accordingly. It is a modular couch and all the pieces do come separately. You can also choose your color preference and the material for the cushions as well. Ours is a soft neutral color to go with our home decor but they do offer a wide variety.

I can honestly tell you, I think my husband misses the couch more than me when he is away for work. That couch is lights out. Meaning, you sit on it and you are done for the day! That is why I do not sit on my couch unless all of my chores are completely done. Laundry, dishes and baths must be completed before I plant myself on it. It’s super soft and sucks you in. Literally, thats why it was given its name, because it feels like a cloud! It is made up of feathers so it molds to your body. We have had so many nights where we wake up at 6 am and realize we spent the night there. Everything about it, we love.

DURABILITY AND CLEANING

It took me a while to know that I can really clean this couch. I was so scared to put the covers into the laundry. Even though, the salesperson at Restoration Hardware explained that it could be tossed into the washing machine without a problem. I was still hesitant. One morning…this year…I finally went for it . I had had it. I removed all the covers and washed them.

In order to know which cover belonged to which cushion, I removed the bottom ones first. Washed and dried them. Put them back. Then removed the top cushions. This was so much easier than I ever imagined. We had a few accidents of wine spilling , nothing major ( I don’t let the kids or anyone eat on the couch ) but I would just wipe it down with water and a cleaning solution. Surprisingly, it never stained. So the material is very durable. I have already washed the ottoman many times because it has the most interaction standing right at the end, closer to the kitchen. And it still comes out like brand new after it’s washed. The entire couch felt brand new after its bath. It is just a little difficult to put them back on the cushion. They have a zipper in the back so you have to maneuver the cushion. After the first 3, I got the hang of it.

In order to clean the under the floors, it is also simple. I mentioned the couch is a modular couch so the pieces can be rearranged and moved around without a problem.

We love our couch and can definitely understand why it is called ‘the cloud’ it certainly feels like one. We have sat on the other 2 similar couches..from Z Gallery and I know a local furniture store El Dorado, carries one also which is comfortable as well. This one was our favorite after testing them all out. Who knew something as simple as a couch could bring so much joy to our family. It’s our meeting ground every evening.
